LDI & DSE Selected As Finalists For Trade Show Executive’s Gold 100 Grand Awards

Trade Show Executive has announced the finalists for this year’s Gold 100 Grand Awards and Questex shows Live Design International and Digital Signage Experience are nominated for last year’s co-located shows which took place at the Las Vegas Convention Center in December 2023.

The winners will be announced at the TSE’s Gold 100 Awards & Summit Gala on September 18 at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, CA.

LDI 2023 is a finalist for the Do-Gooder Award for its partnership with Behind The Scenes, a charity which supports entertainment technology professionals, and the activities and training centered in the show’s Wellness Lounge. Attendees were offered a full day of Mental Health First Aid Training to support mental health and wellness in the workplace, and Overdose Prevention Training. In addition, the Wellness Lounge was used for networking in a safe space, relaxing yoga, and sessions tailored to entertainment industry professionals. Topics included removing the stigma from mental health and substance use issues and handling work events when alcohol is served for members of the sober community. LDI 2023 also raised money for these initiatives by hosting a Rise and Shine fun run and a boutique for themed merchandise for Behind The Scenes. Our sponsors for these initiatives included 7th Sense, ACT Entertainment, CBI Cables, ETC, Chauvet Professional, ETC, GLP, IATSE, iWeiss, Rosco, Spotrack, Texas Scenic Company, Vari-Lite, and Vectorworks.

LDI 2023 was also nominated for the Slam Dunk Award for the Best New Idea of 2023 for the introduction of the Battle of the Busk contest, a showdown between lighting and video jockeys onsite at LDI. Hosted by industry leaders, the battle involved four teams of lighting programmers busking on different consoles and media server programmers after three days of intensive training on those consoles. The final took place during an industry party and the team with the best designs were chosen by a popular vote by LDI attendees.

LDI’s co-located show, Digital Signage Experience, is a finalist for TSE’s Best Use of Technology and Data category for providing an immersive experience for the interactive display industry. ClearLED, makers of transparent LED displays, built a 13-foot cube for digital artists to display their work. The DSE show floor also featured a Super Reality Dome from Fulldome.pro and there was a drone show hosted in partnership with Sky Elements and SPH Engineering
