Danley Provides Audio Fix At Camden Yards

Since construction in 1989, Oriole Park at Camden Yards has been hailed as one of the best stadiums in baseball. The stadium’s popularity has been credited with starting the development of other neotraditional ballparks around the country in the early 1990s. While the stadium has driven innovation across Major League Baseball, its sound system has not received the same praise.

“The current sound system at Camden Yards was installed back in 2009,” said Scott Carneval, owner of Precision Audio. “As the system aged, they began to have multiple issues with speakers out, amplifiers dying, and it’s become a huge problem over the past few years.”

The sound and control systems for the current sound system had become “fairly antiquated,” said president of baseball operations Catie Griggs.

The sound system, as well as a myriad of other changes, are all part of a significant upgrade occurring at Camden Yards after the approval of $600 million by the Maryland Stadium Authority in public bonds set aside to renovate the stadium and the surrounding area.

The first renovations occurred during the break between the 2024 and 2025 seasons inclusive of renovations near the stadium’s left field wall, a viewing area for kids and as part of the “Bird Bath” splash zone, an area for the team’s chief hydration officer Mr. Splash to spray fans, and an upgraded audio system.

For the 2025 season, Precision Audio installed an all Danley system inclusive of 2 J8-94 loudspeakers, 2 J7-95 loudspeakers, 2 OS62 loudspeakers, and 4 BC415 subwoofers for the main area of the stadium. Throughout the remainder of the stadium, 2 SH110 loudspeakers were installed to cover the picnic area and OS80 loudspeakers covering the gates and area behind the scoreboard. The existing downfills beneath the scoreboard and under the balcony on the first level were incorporated into the system. Any loudspeakers that were out were replaced with Danley Go2 and SH95 loudspeakers where necessary. The entire system is now powered by 5 DNA 20K4 and 5 20K8C Danley amplifiers.

“Danley Sound Labs is known for its ability to deliver audio clarity and quality in arenas and stadiums around the world,” said Skip Welch, director of sales & business development at Danley Sound Labs. “Scott Carneval and Precision Audio have done a tremendous job working to provide the right solution for this season.”

“With any audio system for an outdoor facility, over time components break down,” said Carneval. “The issues at Camden Yards were just driven by time. Speakers and amplifiers had failed, and it is time for new audio gear to ensure the fan experience is as amazing as possible. Danley provides a great solution for outdoor stadiums for several reasons: the best audio and vocal intelligibility in the industry, amazing subwoofers, the ability to create real audio experiences, and their extreme weather product line that is practically impervious to weather.”

“The new system provides a great deal of new energy in the park,” said Welch. “We love this sort of feedback as Danley seeks to be synonymous with the ultimate fan experience.”
