The 98th Academy Awards took place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presented Oscars in 24 categories, honoring films released in 2025.
In a rare turn of events there was a tie for Best Live Action Short Film, with statues going to both The Singers: Sam A. Davis and Jack Piatt and Two People Exchanging Saliva: Alexandre Singh and Natalie Musteata. This has happened only six times before in Academy Awards history. This year was also notable for featuring an extended "In Memoriam" section with tributes to those who died in the last year from artists including Billy Crystal and Barbra Streisand. There were two firsts this year: an award for Best Casting was given for the first time, and the winner was Cassandra Kulukundis for One Battle after Another. And Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman to win for Best Cinematography.
Congratulations to all the winners and nominees!
