DeLong Foundation Created To Serve The Global Entertainment Industry

“I am fortunate because I learned to rig from my father,” says Tyler DeLong. “Most people go to college, go to a for-profit trade school, or rely on more senior workers to share their knowledge, yet we still have a lack of competent, qualified workers. I’m starting the DeLong Foundation to make our industry stronger, smarter, and safer through cost effective and subsidized training with industry experts across all crafts.”

The DeLong Foundation’s Board of Directors is led by:

• Tyler DeLong, founder of DeLong Rigging Solutions is an ETCP Certified Rigger (Theatrical & Arena, #2771), ETCP Recognized Trainer, IATSE Journeyman (Locals 618 & 30), and a voting member of the TSP Rigging Workgroup. Tyler is a prolific contributor to the rigging community through peer-reviewed publications and frequent presentations at industry conferences across the globe.

• Richard Nix, Technical Standards Manager for the Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA).

• Caitlyn DeLong, Business Administrator at DeLong Rigging Solutions, bringing diverse experience across industries and a strong foundation in business operations.

These initial courses reflect the Academy’s commitment to affordable technical theater training and will be available online, synchronously.

The classes are:

  1. Arena Lead Rigger Training – A class for individuals who lead teams of riggers in arenas and similar settings. Two-day class, eligible for ETCP renewal credits.
  2. Introduction to Rigging Math – An introduction to the math needed to calculate the fundamental situations commonly found in entertainment rigging including geometry, Pythagorean Theorem, forces, load distribution and manufacturer’s load tables. Good for new riggers and anyone who needs a refresher. 4-hour class
  3. Advanced Rigging Math– A more advanced class applying trigonometry and physict to rigging design. Calculate static and dynamic loads, multipoint bridles and more challenging situations. 4-hour class, eligible for ETCP renewal credits.
