Lighting Director/Assistant Production Manager The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts, Oklahoma State University

The Lighting Director/Asst. Production Manager will oversee lighting for events for the MCPA and The Greenwood School of Music. 

Responsibilities include:
• Coordinate and supervise the operation of lighting equipment/elements for the MCPA, GSM and rental clients
• Interpret touring company technical riders and coordinate advance needs with MCPA Production Manager
• Serve as the lighting designer in cases where touring productions do not travel with a dedicated designer
• Work with Events and Production Managers Interpret the technical/equipment needs for external clients
• Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of production related lighting systems, technical equipment, and facilities to maintain the readiness of stages, support areas, and technical systems
• Supervise hired crew for assigned event or maintenance activities
 

Requirements include:
• Bachelor’s degree in technical theater, music business or another related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years proven work experience and demonstrated excellent verbal and written skills.
• Preference is given for successful experience within the production field of at least 5 years or more.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to schedule priorities 
• Ability to work with a broad spectrum of personalities and to exhibit patience and understanding
• Working knowledge of ETC lighting control consoles and dimmers
• Working knowledge of traditional and modern lighting fixtures, including LEDs
• Working knowledge of sound reinforcement preferred
• Working knowledge of Symphony Orchestra management and production a plus
• Experience creating professional lighting designs for concerts with limited prep time.
• Ability to work independently and use independent judgment while keeping supervisor informed of work activity and issues

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000

Deputy Director of Production & Technical, The National Theatre of Great Britain

The Deputy Director of Production & Technical will work closely with the Production & Technical Director (P&TD) to ensure that all technical and production aspects of the artistic program are realized from the earliest design process to final get out.
They will work alongside the Director or Production & Technical and Heads of Departments to take on responsibility for the motivation, performance standards, safety and skills development of production and technical staff, and will assist in developing an appropriate health & safety culture, and an ethos of skills development and technical excellence.
They will help ensure a consistent experience for Production & Technical Heads of Departments, Production Managers and freelance Production Designers as they develop the NT’s program of work. They will contribute to the strategic and operational leadership to ensure that the departments are sufficiently well-resourced, flexible and innovative to respond to the artistic demands placed upon them.
The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Substantial experience and a proven track record in production or technical management within a large producing venue or organization.
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability to manage, motivate and develop a group of specialized, professional senior managers.
  • Experience of leading and managing technical and production staff with an understanding of appropriate employment and health and safety legislation.
  • Proven track record of managing safety.
  • A strong collaborative ethos, particularly the ability to build positive relationships with creative teams, Heads of Department and senior management.

Salary: £70,000
