Lighting Technician - Outdoor Specialty & Festival Lighting - Dollywood Theme Park

This role exists to provide Dollywood’s Entertainment Department with a high level of entertainment technicians who work in guest view and behind the scenes to install, maintain, and troubleshoot any and all aspects of outdoor theme park lighting, A/V systems, and any other entertainment related technology. This position is demanding and is also essential for exemplary quality in theme park entertainment. This position expects a high level attention to detail and an unsurpassed level of excellence to Dolly Parton and Dollywood Parks and Resorts.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform primary technician duties as assigned, making calculated and situational decisions to complete tasks in a responsible time for Dollywood Parks and Resorts Entertainment. Technicians will work with themed outdoor lighting, festival installations, festival activation planning, and fabrication of essential system infrastructures
  • Provide continued maintenance to entertainment system infrastructures, which includes but not limited to, Dollywood Parks and Resorts themed lighting systems, festival icons, and related entertainment technologies
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair entertainment lighting control systems, static lighting fixtures, moving head fixtures, professional sound systems, video projection systems and DMX infrastructure issues as well as DMX controlled fixtures
  • Set up, troubleshoot, diagnose networking infrastructure
  • Able and willing to share knowledge and best use cases with other technical team members
  • Wear Dollywood Entertainment provided costume or uniform

Education and experience required

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High School diploma required
  • Must have experience with entertainment and/or architectural lighting fixtures
  • Knowledge of entertainment and/or architectural lighting control infrastructure and control systems
  • Knowledge of installation, operation and repair of modern moving-light fixtures preferred
  • Experience in programming lighting control software and show control systems like Paradigm, Mosaic, and Hog preferred
  • Experience in stage set construction or general construction preferred
  • Experience and working knowledge of electricity preferred
  • Experience with industry specific software such as VectorWorks, QLab, QSys, and Dante preferred
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment offer background check and drug screening

This is a full-time, year-round position, $20 USD $20 per hour.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Sonic Arts - Music, City University of New York

The Music Department and Sonic Arts Center invite applications for the position of tenure-track assistant or associate professor of Sonic Arts to begin in the Fall of 2025 or the Spring of 2026. We seek candidates proficient in a broad range of music and audio technology processes with a specialization in surround and Atmos audio postproduction. The successful candidate will teach classes at the Center, contribute to the design and development of our pedagogical tools and facility, provide administrative assistance to the Director, and serve on committees for the Center and music department.

Duties include:

• Teach classes in music production, postproduction, and surround and Atmos mixing
• Contribute to the design and development of curriculum, software and hardware, pedagogical tools, and the Center’s infrastructure
• Assist in training adjunct faculty and managing work study students and interns
• Oversee room tuning and audio systems calibration at the Center
• Serve department and college committees
• Serve as a member of the Sonic Arts selection and bylaws committees
• Assist in student recruitment and retention, participate in student assessment
• Contribute to the active leadership of the Center
• Maintain nationally and internationally recognized professional activity in the music and audio technology industries

Qualifications:

• BA or MA degree in Music or Music and Audio Technology
• Significant teaching experience in Music or Music and Audio Technology
• Significant experience as a Music or Music and Audio Technology professional
