New York City-based lighting designer Jess Creager spent five summers at the Santa Fe Opera as a lighting supervisor, assisting various designers on 15+ productions. Her recent credits include associate lighting designer for Disney’s Hercules at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London’s West End, working with LD Jeff Croiter.

Live Design: Can you describe yourself in less than 50 words?
Jess Creager: I am an associate lighting designer based in New York City who works primarily in commercial theatre. I have a special love for working on new and developing musicals, and the task of moving a show through its journey from workshop to production.
LD: Please give a brief overview of your training/education/career path.
JC: BFA from the University of Arizona in theatrical design & production, immediately joined the workforce and have been working ever since.
LD: Please describe your most recent project.
JC: Associate lighting designer on Waiting for Godot (Broadway)
LD: What are you teaching at LDI and who is your target audience?
JC: Women In Lighting* for (anyone interested in hearing a diverse array of insight and careers, and It's All Lumens: Lighting and Projection Collaboration for anyone interested in learning about putting together the illuminated picture.
LD: What is your advice for people just getting into the industry?
JC: So long as you're a nice person who can exist in a room, we can teach you the rest.
