ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls) Booth 3214
Rebecca Knipfer asked how many people have used a manual counterweight system and how many people have been injured by it? The answer: Pretty much everyone who had used one had an injury, whether a pinched finger or worse.
ETC has stepped outside it's usual territory (lighting fixtures anyone?) to complete this humanitarian mission to prevent injuries with the Prodigy Balance. It has a lifting capacity of 1200 pounds, a maximum travel distance of 50 feet, and is idea for schools and small theatres. Combining safety and simplicity, it allows everything to be loaded at stage level and reduces the need for a loading bridge. ETC is celebrating its 50th birthday but truly, this is a birthday gift for the rest of us!
While you are here, check out the ETC Museum and see Fred Foster's wooden console prototype!

Doug Fleenor Design, Inc Booth 5103
Dr. DMX is announcing his first non-lighting product that isn't controlled by DMX! It's a lift, called "12" because it is 12 feet high, and breaks into two pieces for easy transport and storage. The consultant on this project was Doug's daughter, who is a mechanical engineer who lives in Utah. That means every visit to see here is a business expense! His gain is our gain!
