Once Upon A Time – Costumes At The Paris Opera

“Once upon a time…” – thus begin the tales of our childhood, inhabited by characters both magical and frightening, born of an oral tradition later immortalized by writers such as the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault.

In these stories, the living and the dead, good and evil, and even generations themselves are set in symbolic opposition, through narratives that are often journeys of initiation.

In the form of a stroll through the Palais Garnier, the Paris Opera invites you to immerse yourself in this world where the fantastical meets the marvelous, through a selection of costumes and accessories drawn from its operatic and choreographic repertoire.

From Sleeping Beauty to Cinderella, from Hansel and Gretel to The Nutcracker, discover how the stage of a theatre can be transformed into a fairy-tale kingdom or a waking dream.
