Virtual Networking Tool twine Rolls Out to More Zoom Customers as Standard Feature

twine was one of the many virtual connection tools that launched during the pandemic to facilitate virtual meetings and networking. The app enables speed networking and advanced breakout room functionality for online meetings. twine eventually deployed an integration with Zoom — twine for Zoom — to further enhance the Zoom experience, following its acquisition of Glimpse at the beginning of last year.

Zoom has been actively expanding its meetings and events tools through Zoom Events, and although it lagged behind many more robust solutions in the market during the virtual event revolution, its hold on the market cannot be overlooked, particularly as events are relying less on virtual tools. Many organizations use Zoom as their default virtual meeting tool, and often find it easier to simply hold virtual meetings and events on the same platform.

twine for Zoom has helped improve the networking experience on the platform and make it more appealing for virtual meetings. Now, the app has been selected as part of Zoom’s curated Essential Apps, along with other apps including Embark, Funtivity, and Playbooks by Gondola.

As such, a pro version twine will be made available as a standard feature at no extra cost for all customers with a Zoom One, Pro, Business, or Business Plus subscription for one year, allowing more customers to experiment with and experience the app for their meetings. After the yearlong period, it’s assumed that customers who enjoyed the app will be able to pay to keep premium access.

“We are thrilled to bring the magic of twine for Zoom to millions of Zoom’s customers, and are honored to be named as an essential app,” twine CEO and Co-Founder Lawrence Coburn said in a company announcement. He also noted that “Apps were selected based on performance to date and strategic fit with Zoom’s long term objectives.”

“I’ve been extremely impressed with the twine team’s execution to date,” said Ross Mayfield, Group Product Manager for Apps at Zoom. “I am excited to see what they can do as part of Zoom curated Essential Apps.”
