2024 Tony Award winner and Drama Desk Award winner Jane Cox shares her light plots for Appropriate, which won the Tony for Best Revival Of A Play in addition to Cox's Tony for Best Lighting Design Of A Play (and Sarah Paulson's Tony win for Best Performance By An Actress In A Leading Role In A Play). Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' family drama opened on Broadway in December 2023, following a decade of productions including The Humana Festival of New American Plays in Louisville, Off-Broaway at the Signature Theatre, plus runs in Chicago and Washington DC. as well as Los Angeles and The Donmar Warehouse in London UK, before opening on Broadway in December 2023. It transferred from the Helen Hayes to the Belasco, running through June 30, 2024.
The Broadway run features scenic design by dots, costume design by Dede Ayite and sound design by Will Pickens and Bray Poor. Cox, who is a first time Tony and Drama Desk winner for Appropriate, shares her plots:
